This month we celebrate getting back to school! It can be a time of mixed emotions -- excitement, fear, wonder and transition -- for children and parents! What will be the focus of your family? Having a plan going into this new season can alleviate stress and teach our children some godly lessons.
Start by praying about this transition daily, asking God to bless your family in the midst of it. Consider making your school clothes shopping trip an opportunity to teach the value of charity and buy an extra set of clothes for a needy child. You can also let your child purchase extra school supplies to give to less fortunate families. Your child may also benefit from discussions with you about ways to cope with new situations at school, including praying at school and finding a friend/adult to share feelings with. You can equip your child with resources! Send scripture cards in their backpack or attach the scripture tiles we distributed at VBS that hang from a clip. We have extra sets to offer if you need one.
